American Idol Front-Runner Crystal Bowersox Almost Quit/Lulls Her Baby to Sleep

"TMZ has learned American Idol contestant Crystal Bowersox threw in the towel a little more than two weeks ago and was walking off the show, when Ryan Seacrest did some fast-talking and changed her mind.

It went down in a parking lot after an AI show. In front of several people, Crystal told Ryan she couldn't handle the competition.... she said she hated the attention and said to Seacrest, "What's the point?"

Crystal said she was going back to Ohio to be with her family, whom she missed terribly.

Ryan told Crystal that being on "Idol" was like starting a business, and if she won she'd get a recording contract and become a millionaire.

Seacrest sealed the deal by telling her, "The greatest thing I ever did was make enough money so I could buy my mom a house. You can buy your mom a house."

Seacrest out ... Crystal, not out."

  1. This beautiful baby boy should be the reason you go on to win AI! I have been rooting for you since auditions. Girl, you got it!! You are beautiful, awesome, and real! God gave you a beautiful gift. It would break my heart for you to quit so late in the game. Do this for your family. They are counting on you. Isn't that why you're here in the first place? You can do this, Crystal!!

  4. I can only imagine the enormous pressure she's under, but I do understand that uncertainties are a natural part of taking risks and as a person and parent, I understand her day of doubts. That said, Crystal is an *outstanding* singer/songwriter whose music makes a difference for the better and I hope she continues on AI (the only reason I'm watching), but even more, I wish her happiness and peace on whatever road she chooses.

  6. ...and then you find out it was all a rumor started by Lyin Seacrest himself just to add some drama to the show. That it never happened and Mamasox had never seriously considered quitting and the parkinglot scene only happened in Seacrest's creepy little mind.
