Crystal Bowersox and Lee DeWyze sing a duet of “Falling Slowly”

Crystal Bowersox and Lee DeWyze sing a duet of “Falling Slowly” by Glen Hansard and Markéta Irglová from the movie Once on the American Idol Season 9 Top 4 show.

Was Lee Dewyze saved by his amazing duet with Crystal Bowersox?
With only four left in the competition, each contestant should have hit a grand slam on American Idol. That simply wasn’t the case for fan favorite Lee Dewyze who did poorly with his solo performance of "Kiss From a Rose." However, his duet with Crystal Bowersox was practically perfect and may have saved him from elimination this week.

Guest mentor Jamie Foxx got right in Lee DeWyze's face and dared him to get in touch with his confidence. Well, he did seem confident, but his song choice of Seal's "Kiss From a Rose" was terrible. Randy Jackson said, “For me, you did nothing with that song.” He also said that he wished Dewyze had chosen a song by Bon Jovi. Ellen Degeneres added, “There could have been more done with the song, but I still love you.” Kara DioGuardi said that it was one of the most difficult songs to sing. “It had out-of-tune issues, but you’re still great,” she went on to say. Simon Cowell said that he was with Randy. “It was verging on karaoke. You were trying too hard to sound like the original artist,” he panned.
